Chapter 4: Show me

Mya moved her last piece of furniture backagainst the wall before plopping down on her bed. She hadsearched her entire room last night until earlier this morningwith no luck of finding her journal. In fact, she couldn'tremember the last place she saw it, which didn't help hersituation.

She folded her arms across her chest, desperately attempting to recall the event in her head, "Iremember writing in it...but where was I, when I was writing init!" She screamed, not even considered calling JC, someonewho knew exactly where it was. She intended to find it by herselfwithout disturbing anyone else.

Mya stood up dragging herself into the bathroomto shower and change. She figured a nice warm bath with bubbleswould allow her to refrain from the tension. She undressed, stepping out of her clothes and turning on the water, addingbubbles. When her foot landed on the surface of the tub, thephone rung.

She wrapped herself in a body length towel andgrabbed the phone from her room.

"Talk to me." Mya answered. She heardlaughter on the other end as a response. She knew exactly who itwas.

"JC why are you laughing at me?" Sheplaced the phone in the crook of her neck and turned the wateroff.

"Oh so you know my voice now?"

Mya smirked, "I always know your voicewhen you call." That was true. Before she had to ask who wascalling, but now she could always identify his voice.

"So what are you doing?" JC fell backon his bed, placing his hands behind his head as he looked up atthe stars.

"Well I was taking a bath with strawberryscented bubbles until you called." She gushed, playingblowing foam from her hand.

JC gulped while trying to contain himself as heheard the splashing in the background. Part of him wishing shenever said that and the other, of course glad that she had.

"Okay. I call you later then." Hehung up quickly before waiting for a response from her.

Mya pulled the telephone away from her ear, shaking her head laughing. She placed the telephone on the edgeof sink and slid down in the tub.

A few days later

After rehearsal, Mya entered her house, fallingback on the couch as she checked her answer machine for messages. She listened to the first few messages from her friends andothers for business purposes. She skipped to the last messagebecause the rest didn't seem of any interest to her, especiallysince she was just informed that she had two photo shoots and amagazine interview next week.

A smile slowly crept up at the corners of hermouth as she listened to the voice, which she recognizedimmediately. His voice was low and smooth with a hint of existingflirtatiousness. She wondered if he was doing that purposely. Shenoticed he always talked to her that way unless he was nervousabout something.

"...Oh I got to hurry up before this thingcuts me off. I'll see you at eight, be ready. Bye." He endedthe call.

Mya pushed herself up from the couch proceedingto her room to get dress.

~*~*~*~*~

Mya was applying the finishing touches to herappearance when suddenly there was a knock on the door.

She slipped her feet into her heels and went toanswer the door, "You're always early." Mya smirkedwith her hand placed against her hip.

"Oh so I see you got my message." JCsmiled stealing quick glances of her.

"Yes I did." Mya smiled back as shereached out to hug him. She sighed softly against him, overwhelmed by the aroma of his cologne, which he wore due to thefact that he knew it was her favorite. He had been up on manythings lately, but nothing too personal.

"Oh so where are we going?" Myapulled away from him slightly.

"Well it's this fair in town and I thought--"He was interrupted quickly by her ecstatic behavior.

"Ooh the fair, come on let's go..."Mya pulled him towards the car before he could say anything else. She wrapped her arms around herself.

JC noticed her sudden gesture of uneasiness,"What's wrong?" His voice displayed concern for her andshe noticed it.

"It's kind of chilly. Let me go back andget my jacket..." She turned back towards the house, but JCgrabbed her hand.

"No that's okay I'll keep you warm."JC opened her door.

Mya couldn't help but blush as she climbed intothe car.

"Score one for JC." He congratulatedhimself after shutting her door and walking over to the driverside.

~*~*~*~*~

Mya sat patiently on the bench with JC's coatdraped over her shoulders as she waited for him to park the car.It was surprising how much she was enjoying her time spent withhim. Usually when she went out with a guy, the date usuallyconsisted of a conversation about her looks or he would stare ather the entire night. Although during the conversations sheshared with JC in the car, he stared too but she could sense hisinterest towards her more. She was equally, but playfullyflirtatious with him.

JC spotted her sitting on the bench with herlegs crossed one over the other as the wind blew through her hair.He couldn't believe how well their 'date' was going. While in thecar she smiled and laughed at everything he said, how many peopleactually did that? It was like he knew what to say and knew thereaction he would receive from her. To him her journal was like a"How to do" book or better yet a gift from God.

"You ready?"

"Yeah." Mya stood up and linked herarm with his, snuggling against him as they walked towards thefair.

After they purchased a funnel cake for the twoof them to share, they sat down at one of the small round tables.

For a while, JC just stared her as she ate theparts of the funnel cake piece by piece.

Mya looked up finally noticing it. She brusheda lock of hair behind her ear shyly, "Do you want some?"She offered sliding the plate over to him.

"I mean I don't want to eat it all."She laughed.

"No that's okay. I'm fine." He likedwatching her.

Mya frowned, "But I thought we weresupposed to be sharing." She pouted knowing he could neverresist.

JC sighed breaking off a piece and stuffing itin his mouth.

She smiled, "Thank you."

He finished the last of the funnel cake, andthen got up to throw the plate away before joining her back atthe table. Mya laughed lightly standing up.

"What's so funny?" JC wondered.

"Are you cold? You look a little cold, you’reblushing, and you have nothing to blush about. Here you can haveyour jacket back..." She offered slipping it slightly offher shoulders.

"No it's not that bad just a little windy..."He rubbed his hands over her shoulders, pushing the coat up.

"Ooh come on let's get on that." Myabeamed like a child pointing to the Ferris wheel as she draggedhim towards the ride.

~*~*~*~*~

They walked back towards the parking lot, snuggled against each other. JC was really enjoying the closenessbetween them now. He could tell she was letting her guard downand opening up to him. However, he felt somewhat guilty like hewas using her...to get with her. But he did indeed acquirevaluable thoughts of hers, which made it easier for him to comeforth to her the way he did.

"...Okay whatever you say Joshua."Mya smirked, pushing away the hair that was blowing in her face.

He didn't like being called Joshua, but it didn'tsound so bad coming from her. "I'm serious girl..." JClaughed lightly and wrapped his arm around her waist.

She immediately stopped walking and lifted herhead to look at him. He stopped laughing.

"Did I say something wrong?" Hefigured she took his sign of affection the wrong way. Maybe hewas getting too close.

"What?" JC stammered over his words, expecting to her to go off on him.

"Nothing," was all she said instead, and rested her head against him. She actually didn't mind himholding her close like that. It felt nice and it was keeping herwarm too.

JC sighed with relief along with confusion. Hewondered why she didn't say anything after that.

"So are we going back to your house?"Mya asked changing the subject as she hugged the huge teddy bear, which JC won for her.

"I guess. If you want?"

"Sure. I want to see what you're houselooks like."

"It's nothing much. Too many rooms, hugekitchen, big ass basement, and my room's kind of a mess right now."

"Don't worry I won't be seeing you're roomtonight." She grinned.

JC raised his eyebrows inquisitively. Was sheflirting with him? If so, she was doing a good job at it.

What if she was letting him know that he'dnever ever have a chance with her, so no need to even show herhis room. Okay JC you're getting way over yourself, just letthings progress as it is.

The loud roar of the thunder clashing in thesky startled them. And in a sudden second, heavy drops of rainpoured down on them as if someone was standing above them with ahuge bucket of water. Mya squealed angrily because her hair wasgoing to frizz.

JC pulled out the umbrella and hovered it overthem, although they were already wet. He was surprised at howfast the rain managed to soak through her clothes.

Despite the fact that she was drenched to thebone, he thought she looked sexy. Well of course he would, numberone he was a man and number two he was seeing things that therain kindly offered to display to him. Maybe she shouldn'thave worn such thin material for a shirt, JC thought, then hegrinned, but the pink lace bra is nice!

"JC could you snap out of it for onesecond and open my door." Mya pleaded brushing her wet hairaway from her face.

He did as told. He closed her door and walkedover to his side.
